Paddlers

Events we attend

The club will be supporting and competing in a number of events throughout the next 12 months, some important dates to remember are the following:

Hawkesbury Classic: October 2020

The Hawkesbury Canoe Classic is a fun paddle with a serious purpose. Each year around 600 paddlers paddle 111 km overnight in the moonlight, down the Hawkesbury River from Windsor to Brooklyn, to raise money for charity.

Over the years the event has built into a great community event, with paddlers, their  landcrew and hundreds of volunteers converging on the banks of the Hawkesbury River at Windsor on the day of the event to enjoy the camaraderie and spirit that the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic has built.

Paddle 4 Good

Newy Paddlers will be holding a fund raising event for a local Women’s Refuge in the Newcastle area where all proceeds will go to the refuge that are in desperate need of appliances.

Winterfest:  August 2020

Winterfest is a charity event run by Toronto Sunrise Rotary Club to benefit local nominated community groups. It starts at the Toronto Amateur Sailing Club and involves 5 & 10km races around Fennel Bay, catering for different paddling craft such as kayaks, SUPs , Dragon Boats & Outriggers.

Myall Classic: September 2020

The Myall Classic is a special event held in September. It starts at Tea Gardens  and tests your endurance against the varying tides and winds of the Myall Lakes. With 12 klm,27 klm and the 47 klm distances there is again something for everyone. This is another key event along with the Hawkesbury Classic that the club wishes to be present at in big numbers.

Newy Paddlers Handicap Race Series:

Runs on Wednesday evenings at 6pm throughout the Day light Savings months. Do your best to win the Mud Crab Cup, the best 11 races over 5 km out of 21 races. Everyone has a chance because you are given a handicap time based the level of experience or what craft you paddle. This allows all competitors the opportunity of being competitive, most importantly to have fun and get some exercise.
